Michigan Military Injury and Nursing Care Lawyer

Nursing Care

The Veterans Millennium Health Care and Benefits Act (VMBA) signed into law in 1999, provides for the long-term health care needs of veterans, including expanded provisions for nursing home care. The VMBA provides veterans with service-connected disabilities alternatives to nursing home care. The military injury benefits attorneys at the Nawrocki Center for Elder and Family Law in Brighton assists clients in understanding and applying for this and other important veteran's benefits.

Our firm offers compassionate and knowledgeable attorney, Nancy C. Nawrocki, who has been certified by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to assist clients and their families prepare and present their benefit claims tied to their military service. We know the laws and we can help your case proceed smoothly and efficiently through the VA system.

Contact our law office today for an appointment to discuss your VMBA nursing care needs and other veteran medical benefits.

VMBA Nursing Care Qualification for a Military Injury

The VMBA gives the VA the authority to expand eligibility for nursing care to veterans with a service-related injury or disease that requires them to have nursing care for a disabling injury determined to be 70% or more. The VA may rate a disabled veteran in two ways:

  • A single disabling injury rated at 70% or more
  • Multiple disabling injuries rated collectively at 70% or more

Most services-related nursing care benefits for assisted living or in-home care require some degree of disability from injury suffered during a veteran's service period, a previous injury that was aggravated during their service, or a disabling injury resulting from treatment received in a VA facility or by its medical staff.
